My bad, I skipped blogging for a pretty long period again~ I normally wait until the pictures accumulate to the max on my Canon before I blog, because what good is a blog without pictures right? When you guys see a five-paragraph-long post with no pics, would you seriously want to read it? --not unless forced to.
Anyway, to start off, I would like to share with you guys my day at the SOUTH POINT GOURMET FOOD TRUCK FESTIVAL. I'm not so sure about other countries, but here in the U.S. food trucks had been a fast growing trend~ there are all sorts of food trucks touring around the hot spots these days. My favorite, however, will always be Fuku Burger.Arriving at South Point casino's parking lot, I almost pulled my hair out since finding a parking spot was a total nightmare. I didn't expect so many people and on top of that, I was madd hungry!!! (Talking about first meal of the day at 3:30pm). As I finally found one after continuously circling around~ I forgot to prepare for my next obstacle..
The long ASS lines!!!!! Luckily, my friend that got there before me ordered me something... They said that his order's wait time was an hour, after he finally got to the window and made his purchase lol. When I arrived, it was not even nearly his turn to pick up the order. Good thing I had a can of coke with me at least. Meanwhile, I had time to tour around with my Canon. There were some pretty unique trucks out there. Let's take a look ^^
Food Slingers - I heard they already ran out of food before I even got there. Damn. Must be that good.
So cute. Mexican/Japanese hahaha They also ran out of food... Bummer...
Omg.... this guy came and sat right next to me at the table with 3 diff kinds of hot dogs he bought from this place. Looked delicious *poor me*
So weird.. They had a Fashion truck as well hahaha!!
This truck probably had the longest line of all time. When I got closer to look at the menu, It was indeed Banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich) & Vietnamese Taco (...Wut?)
Unique name.. but it doesn't stand for what you think it does.. lol...However, i'm sure they meant to do that.
LoL! This truck made me laugh "SLAP YO MAMA". But they had a very long line too! That's because they were selling soft shell crabs >.< ahhh~~~~!
South Point Casino behind
Had bunch of tables so you can sit and enjoy ^^
There was a rock band on stage. They sounded great! They did a lot of remix of popular pop and hip hop songs. *Loved their performance and the vocalist's voice*.. and I swear.. He looked like a skinny version of Zack Bagans from the Ghost Adventure show.
There was a food truck where the line wasn't so bad so I made my way there to make an order
The Decor is so cute. ^^ I ordered steamed pork belly and Crispy Miso Tofu. Yum Yum *Spent $7.00*
We then finally got all our food~ *At the same time* --2 first pics were the pork belly and Miso Tofu.. The 2 last ones are what we waited so long for; Tater tots with yum yum sauce, and seasoning and sunny side up eggs~ And the other ones are fresh buns with a bunch of different fillings in them ^^
Overall, very fun experience~ Although i'd rather dine in a restaurant where it's cozy hahah
After the "chow-down" I stopped by the ice cream truck of course!
So cool!! You get a freshly made oatmeal cookie and the all-naturally home-made ice cream of your choice. I picked strawberry but they ran out of cookies :((( so I just got a small scoop in a cup $4.00 pretty pricey for a cup that was as big as a ping pong ball. Wasn't satisfied so got some Green Tea latte from "Seattle's Best Coffee" inside South Point Casino.
That was the end of my Food Truck adventure...
WHAT I DID TODAY...
Well.. I went to this bakery called L'Élysée it's a Chinese-owned french bakery. I was just there to wait for my work-place to open so I can pick up my cash tips from last night. It was such a cozy and small place. I love that place because it was not crowded and they played soothing classical music~ French style. hehe I got some sweets and ordered cafe latte.
I'm sure you all know what this is~ It's the infamous Egg tart. haha. Although I think it fits more in the Chinese bakery category, It's my ultimate favorite!! Since I was a child, I always went to the bakery at the local Chinatown with my Grand-ma and we'd pick these up on our way to buy roast duck and pork. The crust was absolutely different and delicious~It was milky and buttery *yum*
Milk pudding! It was similar as flan, however it's not as sweet and it taste more milky~ very good ^^ I also got cream cheese filled bakery and something else to deliver to my co-worker.
My Cafe Latte *Hot*
Nothing as relaxing as hot coffee on a chilly evening...
I've been craving to eat Hot-N-Juicy for a while!! I had to go on my day off
For those who don't know what HOT-N-JUICY is, they are best known for their Crawfish! You can order the sauces you want on your seafood and how spicy you want it. I ordered a pound of Crawfish and a Pound of Jumbo shrimp. It would however be better to go during the seafood's peak season~ Unfortunetly, this time was not as great as when I went at the beginning of October with my friends because it's now off-season, no more fresh live Crawfish (I just learned how to eat those by the way). Anyway, I would recommend ordering Medium as the level of spice because it gets really spicy, even for the pros...The best flavors are Cajun or my Favorite--> "Garlic Butter". In my case, I ordered Cajun and had a dipping of Garlic butter on the side lol.~ I forgot to mention that HOT-N-JUICY was also featured in the famous show on the Food Network channel "MAN VS FOOD"
Orders came, Time to get Crackin'
That was the end of my Journey. I then went to buy some groceries.. Tomorrow, I'll be roasting some bone marrows~ Yummy!! Try it!~ After you roast a few for about 15 mins in the oven, sprinkle them with salt and dig out the content from the bone!~ Most people spread it on some thinly sliced french bread, but you can just eat it plain ^^
Finally to end this post, I'm going to show you some more self-portrait snaps (really got to invest in a tripod and wireless shutter). I got new contacts, Yes. They are RED. To be exact, they are I.Fairy Pretty Crystal Red 15mm . I love them ~ they make my eyes look naturally reddish. I've had compliments on them already.
Gives that Vampire effect but does not make it seem all fake and unnatural. I find it appealing don't you think? ^^ ~ Anyway, t'ill next time! Hope this long post made up for the wait.
